The BLS Healthcare Provider Course teaches CPR skills for helping Adults, children and infants, (including doing ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). It's intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in-hospital and out-of-hospital, dental offices, physicians office, physical therapy clinics, home healthcare agencies, student nurses and more. This class is for certified or non certified, licensed or non licensed healthcare professionals.

This is the hands on skills practical exam (parts 2 & 3) for anyone that has completed the online BLS Providers Course. This is required to recieve your certification card.

The Instructor Certification Course is designed to prepare Instructors to disseminate the science, skills, and philosophy of the resuscitation programs to participants enrolled in AHA courses.  Instructors Candidates may choose between two disciplines: Heartsaver Instructor or Healthcare Provider Instructor. A current Provider card in the discipline (i.e., BLS, Heartsaver) you wish to teach is required.

 

The Heartsaver instructor course is designed for individuals who wish to instruct non medical personnel (i.e., child care givers, security guards, baby sitters, teachers, adult care givers).  Heartsaver Instructors may not teach Healthcare Providers, only non-healthcare.

 

 

Instructor Yearly Renewal and Review of current issues and changes.

The course offers hands-on practical interactive instruction with the use of a video/DVD. Examples of relevant experiences are included in the discussions.  Manikins are provided for the students to perform specific psychomotor objectives for the various modules. A maximum of two participants per manikin is used for optimum instruction. A maximum of six participants per AED is used. Each participant is required to pass a skills test by demonstrating competency in the following:

    * Adult/Child/Infant CPR and AED use

    * First Aid skills


A certification card will be issued upon successful completion of the course. The certification is valid for 2 years.
